  • Q ~ Why should I choose your service?

  • A ~ West Coast Pets offers you professional, confidential pet care services. I have no employees and I am not part of an on-demand pet sitting app. I am consistent and reliable. I am a licensed, certified, and insured pet sitter with First Aid training and decades of experience. I pride myself in providing exceptional customer service and compassionate pet care.

  • Q ~ Do I have to leave my key under a rock or doormat for you to provide my services?

  • A ~ No. If you have an alarm system, I will go over your access procedures. If not, I will provide you with one of my lock boxes and create a combination that will be kept confidential. The safety of your home, and your pets, is my foremost concern.

  • Q ~ How will my dog be rewarded or punished?

  • A ~ I believe in using only positive reinforcement when interacting or working with dogs. This means I will reward your dog for good behavior with verbal praise, treats, and petting. Sometimes, high value treats (i.e. small pieces of cheese or chicken) may be used where a more high reward motivation is needed to repeat good behavior. Bad behavior is redirected to what is acceptable, then rewarded. Some behaviors people label "bad", are just dogs behaving like dogs.  They are very smart animals, want to please, and almost always work for food!

  • Q ~ Do you have a flea policy?

  • A ~ Yes, here in the Northwest fleas can quickly become a health hazard for you and your pets. I check each cat/dog at every visit.   If fleas are present, I will notify the owner and not return until the issue has been resolved. For the health and well-being of all my clients, and my own pets, I require a flea prevention program be utilized.   

  • Q ~ Do you discriminate against "dangerous" or "aggressive" breeds?

  • A ~ I do not. I do not believe in those terms. Each individual dog/cat will be assessed on its own temperament and social behaviors. For my safety, and the safety of other pets I handle, I reserve the right to refuse service to any pet who exhibits inappropriate or aggressive behavior, no matter its breed. 

  • Q ~ Why must my dog wear a harness when being walked?

  • A ~ Many breeds have heads that are smaller than their necks. Collars easily pull over the head, and the dog is on the loose. A harness is less likely to injure a dog that bolts after a squirrel, bird, cat, etc. Your pet's safety and comfort is my main concern.

  • Q ~ Do I have to sign a long term contract for services? 

  • A ~ No. However, it is beneficial to your pet to have a consistent caregiver they know and trust. It is advised to schedule all services as soon as possible. I only take as many clients as I can comfortably provide consistent, exceptional service to.

  • Q ~ What forms of payment do you accept?

  • A ~ I accept cash and credit/debit cards. Invoicing is done weekly and due upon receipt. It is possible to pay the invoice online, or I can take your credit/debit card information to enter manually. Your financial information will be kept in a password protected system and will never leave my office.

  • Q ~ How do I schedule services?

  • A ~ Just give me a call, or send an email. I will set up a Meet & Greet with you and your pet/s. This is to ensure that you, your pets, and I are a good match to provide services. At that time we will go over our Forms, Policies, and Agreements and schedule your first visit.
